Snowboarding in Alaska

In June 2022, our friend Fred Pompermayer was in Alaska again for another epic snowboarding trip with four friends.

Adventure Snowboarding

When you go to Alaska to snowboard, you need to be conscious that you are in a very wild place, with other creatures of wildlife like bears, and certainly, it’s not a good idea to face one on your track.

But you can enjoy and admire this beautiful and intelligent creature in unique ways; July and August are ideal months for adding more life-changing experiences to your adventure book.

Aurora Borealis

The amazing scenario in Alaska was waiting with its stunning views, and at that time the sun had a big coronal mass ejection, allowing amazing views of the Aurora borealis.

Only in some special places in the world do you have the chance to see the aurora borealis, and on Mount Alyeska it becomes a wonderful, surreal experience. Just for a few fortunate peoAdple.

Alyeska Resort

At the Alyeska Resort, you have a lot of options for enjoying snowboarding. Mount Alyeska has 1,610 skiable acres, and the place has a long history dating back to 1954, when the Alyeska Ski Corporation was founded.

There are a lot of runs for all levels to enjoy, 76 named runs to be exact, and more than one way to reach the top, aerial tram trip, two high-speed detachable quads, two fixed quads, two magic carpets, and heli-skiing.

Mt. Alyeska Roundhouse

The epicenter of winter sports for skiing and snowboarding in the region is the “Mt. Alyeska Roundhouse,” built in 1960, where you have a chance to enjoy stunning views and go ahead with your thrilling run.

Although Alaska is known for having more difficult mountains with more difficult runs, it can still be a good place to learn and train.

The easy runs are at the bottom of the mountain, and for experts, consider knowing how many options are available and being open to joy when you arrive. Remember the safety rules and do not endanger others.

Snowboarding is one of the most popular sports in the area, and there are no restrictions on it, unlike in other parts of the United States, where it is only permitted to ski.
